Syracuse-Wawasee Trail Committee met Monday night and discussed the Eli Lilly Road trail widening project. The committee has received a couple of donations for the widening project, including one for $1,000. “We have a long way to go,” said Syracuse-Wawasee Trail Committee Executive Director Megan McClellan. Wawasee Property Owners Association recently gave the Syracuse-Wawasee Trail Project $5,000 for a feasibility study on installing trail along the southeast end of Lake Wawasee. With the trail nearly complete around Syracuse Lake, the trail committee is looking to start putting trail around Lake Wawasee.

Donn Baird, treasurer for the Syracuse Wawasee Trail Project, had good news to report at the committee’s regular monthly meeting Monday night. In addition to approximately $28,000 being raised through the annual holiday mailer, the trail committee received a $50,000 grant from the K21 Foundation.
