Art In Action: Women In Art

Kim Reiff directs the art program at Grace College. She is currently offering her students a wonderful experience in the history of art by teaching them about famous women artists. She has pointed out that those who study ancient cave drawings have discovered that much of the original art was done by women.

A Bloomington-based young artist is making quite the introduction into the acrylic world. Nine-year-old artist Maya Wilson isn’t new to the world of art — she sold her very first piece at the age of 5.

NORTH MANCHESTER — At 9 a.m. Aug. 22 Peabody Retirement Community will host a once-in-a-lifetime live auction of more than 300 lots of fine antiques—from classic copper weathervanes, to original Hummel figurines dating back to the 1930s, to impressive pieces of classic furniture and crystal—to support endowments at the community.

Cindy Bryan, art professor at Grace College, is currently working on a big project. The art department at Grace College, Center for Lakes and Streams and the City of Warsaw storm waters department are teaming up to bring new life to the cities storm drains.

Warsaw artist Steve Creighton was awarded Best of Show for his still life painting “Studio Arrangement” at the Kokomo Art Association’s 89th Annual Spring Show on May 2 at the Kokomo Art Center.
