SYRACUSE — Less than a year from now, barring any major obstacles, students and staff will fill a brand new elementary school in Syracuse. Work is progressing well and even ahead of schedule at the new Syracuse Elementary School on Kern Road, projected to be ready for the start of the 2017-18 school year.

SYRACUSE — Skiers, snowmobilers and anyone who likes snow or colder weather has been disappointed this month. But a mild and warmer late fall, even with a couple of days topping 60 degrees, bodes well for outdoor construction work.

SYRACUSE — It’s becoming more than something discussed in a meeting or architectural drawings. One can drive by on Kern Road just south of the Eagles building and see the beginning stages of a new school being built.

With previous experience building a new school building in the Wawasee Community School Corporation, Fetters Construction Co. of Auburn was awarded the bid to build the new Syracuse Elementary School. The bid was awarded during the regular monthly meeting of the Wawasee school board Tuesday evening, Sept. 8, in Syracuse.
