NORTH WEBSTER — Nehemia Gordon, a Dead Sea Scrolls scholar, brought a lively, interactive program that highlighted biblical translation June 19 to Epworth Forest Conference Center. He also noted throughout the presentation the importance that Jewish tradition and history plays in translating biblical texts. A Karaite Jew, Gordon stated at the beginning of the presentation that he believes strictly in the Old Testament; however, he added later, “I’m not here to convert you. I am here to empower you with information.”
