SYRACUSE — CSX Railroad will be closing down Warner Road, East Shore Drive and Front Street in Syracuse the week of Oct. 24-28 for routine track work weather permitting.

CSX Railroad crossing closures at Bishop Road and East Wawasee Drive near Syracuse will affect bus routes at least for a couple of days for the Wawasee Community School Corp.

A July 8 inspection report commissioned by the Wawasee Property Owners Association rated the overall condition of the CSX railroad bridge over the main channel between Syracuse and Wawasee lakes as “fair” and recommended its replacement “within the next 10 years.”

The good news is the CSX railroad bridge between Syracuse Lake and Lake Wawasee is now open on both sides.
