SYRACUSE — The lawsuit against Oakwood Resorts for excessive noise has been resolved. On April 6, Circuit Court Judge Michael Reed signed a consent judgement and injunction after Dr. Rex Parent, owner of Oakwood Resorts, and the plaintiffs, neighbors who live across Conklin Bay from the resort, entered into a confidential settlement agreement. SYRACUSE — Syracuse-Wawasee Trail Committee discussed goals and gave an update on current projects at its first meeting of the year Monday evening, Jan. 18.
SYRACUSE — Syracuse-Wawasee Trail Committee met Monday evening, Oct. 19, and Executive Director Megan McClellan gave updates on the Conklin Bay and the Eli Lilly Road trail projects. Both trails are moving forward.
SYRACUSE — Plaintiffs in the lawsuit against Oakwood Resorts have paid a $25,000 bond required by Circuit Court Judge Mike Reed.
Syracuse-Wawasee Trail Committee met Monday evening, Sept. 21, and heard plans for the Eli Lilly Road trail project are moving forward.
The Dekko Foundation has awarded the Syracuse-Wawasee Trail Committee a $13,584 grant. The grant will go toward the design and permitting of a boardwalk and trail across the Conklin Bay wetlands and parallel to SR 13 to Grandview Drive.
At press time, a $25,000 bond the plaintiffs have to pay to indemnify Oakwood Resorts against damage had not been paid. Meanwhile, Oakwood Resorts has moved to comply with the directions outlined in the injunction issued against it Aug. 14.
Details are sketchy, but Circuit Court Judge Michael Reed granted the plaintiffs a preliminary injunction against Oakwood Friday, Aug. 14. However, the injunction does not go into affect until the plaintiffs pay a $25,000 bond. At press time, the county clerk had no record of the bond being paid.
Two major sections of the trail system were discussed at the Syracuse-Wawasee Trails Committee meeting Monday, Aug. 17.
