TinCaps Drop Playoff Opener

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. – The Fort Wayne TinCaps lost their playoff opener to the West Michigan Whitecaps, 5-2, at Fifth Third Ballpark on Wednesday night. Game 2 in the best-of-three series is set for 7:05 pm Thursday at Parkview Field.

SOUTH BEND – Today, the South Bend Cubs officially announced a new, historic attendance record of 347,678 fans for a single season in downtown South Bend. The new record was set on Friday night, September 4 during the final home game of the 2015 season at Four Winds Field.

FORT WAYNE – TinCaps right fielder Franmil Reyes was named the Midwest League Player of the Week for the week of August 31-September 6, the league announced Tuesday. The award is selected by MiLB.com’s staff.

TinCaps Walk Off Once Again

FORT WAYNE – The TinCaps set a new franchise record with their 11th walk off win of the season on Saturday night, defeating the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 4-3, in 11 innings. It’s the most walk off victories in a single season for Fort Wayne.

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. – The TinCaps clinched the Eastern Division second half title on Friday night as they beat the West Michigan Whitecaps, 4-1, at Fifth Third Ballpark. It’s Fort Wayne’s fifth ever division title and first since 2009. Fort Wayne and West Michigan meet Wednesday of next week in the best-of-three playoff matchup.

SOUTH BEND – A 10-1 loss to Dayton Wednesday night, along with West Michigan’s win, eliminated the South Bend Cubs from playoff contention.

SOUTH BEND – Cubs star prospects Gleybor Torres and Jeffrey Baez have been promoted from South Bend to High-A Myrtle Beach.
