A 5K run/walk to benefit Plymouth native and U.S. Olympian Morgan Uceny is set for Saturday, July 14 in Plymouth.

The event, which will raise funds to offset travel expenses for Uceny’s family to make the trip to London to watch her  compete, begins at 8 a.m. at Plymouth High School in the parking lot near the entrance to the track. A donation of $25 per participant is requested.

Uceny, a 2003 PHS graduate, qualified for the 2012 Olympics by winning the 1,500-meter run at the U.S. Track Trials July 1 in Eugene,  Oregon. Uceny, ranked No. 1 in her specialty, will begin Olympic competition with preliminaries on Aug. 6.

For more information on the run, contact Debbie Palmer at 276-3293.
