WARSAW — The county is two steps closer to being able to issue bonds for the Co-op tax increment financing district after the Kosciusko County Redevelopment Commission and the Kosciusko County Council approved a bond resolution.

The redevelopment commission met in special session at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20. Rob Zeldenrust, representing the co-op, visited and spoke in favor of the bonds, which are intended to help pay for a fiber optic project that has already begun and for road upgrades, which will go up for bid soon.

The commission voted unanimously in favor of the bond resolution.

At 6:30 p.m., the county council met in special session. After briefly reviewing the resolution, they also voted unanimously in its favor.

According to County Attorney Chad Miner, the resolution will now go to the county commissioners, then back to the redevelopment commission for final approval of appropriations. If it passes, Miner said, the final step will be to file the appropriate paperwork to do the bond issuance.
