Esther Chupp
Esther Chupp, age 82, of Nappanee, died peacefully at 3:15 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at The Maples in Goshen. She had been a resident there since July 24, 2015. She was born Sept. 14, 1932, in Middlebury to Abe and Lydia (Miller) Lehman. She was raised in Middlebury and lived her lifetime in the Goshen/Nappanee area. On June 20, 1957, she married John J. Chupp in Middlebury.
Mrs. Chupp was a homemaker and a member of the Old Order Amish Church. She enjoyed quilting and gardening.
Surviving is her husband: John; children: Ruth Ann (Randall) Rodgerson, Syracuse; Marvin J. (Karen) Chupp, Milford; Mervin R. (Glenda) Chupp, Goshen; Rosemary (John) Metzger, New Paris; 14 grandchildren; two step-grandhcildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; brothers: Elmer (Edna) Lehman, Shipshewana; Lavern (Lydia Mae) Lehman, Lester (Mary) Lehman, both of Middlebury; John (Amanda) Lehman, Belle Center, Ohio; sisters: Mary (Leroy) Nisley, Goshen; Polly Anna (Lavern) Miller, Markensan, Wis.; and a sister-in-law: Ellen Lehman, Sidney, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter: Rachele Metzger; and a brother: Mervin Lehman.
Family and friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, and all day Tuesday, Aug. 18, at the Darryl Hochstetler residence, at 13991 N. 700 W., Nappanee, where funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19. The home ministry of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate. Burial will be in Weldy Cemetery.
