FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — It is expected to take utility crews a couple more days to have all electricity restored in Fort Wayne, where city officials say more than 500 trees were toppled by a severe storm.

Indiana Michigan Power reports nearly 50,000 customers around Fort Wayne remained without power Monday morning following Friday’s storm that hit the area with winds up to 90 mph. That’s about one-third of the utility’s customers in Allen County and officials say repairs could continue until late Wednesday.

Several thousand other outages are scattered around the state.

Some 150 city workers and contractors spent the weekend clearing Fort Wayne streets blocked by trees and other debris.
