Richard D. CookRichard “Dick” C. Cook, age 86, Plymouth, passed away at 1:51 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015, at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth.

Dick was born on May 14, 1929, in Goshen, to George C. and Dorothy (McCloskey) Cook. Dick married the former Mary Snyder on Aug. 26, 1950, in a ceremony in Plymouth. Dick proudly served his country in the Indiana National Guard for two years. Dick owned and operated the Cook Brothers Furniture Store of Plymouth. He was a valued member of the Plymouth Volunteer Fire Department. Dick was past President of the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce, an active member of the Eagles Lodge #1900 and a member of the Plymouth Country Club. He was an avid league bowler. The Cook’s moved from Grovertown to Plymouth 54 years ago.

Richard is survived by his wife: Mary Cook, Plymouth; their daughter: Kelly (Tom) Copeland, St. Charles, Ill.; two sons: George (Vickie) Cook, Bruce Cook, both of Plymouth; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister: Joyce (Dave) Roseberry, Knootz Lake; brother: Donald (Ilene) Cook, Rochester. Dick is preceded in passing by his parents; brothers: G. Ed Cook; and Fred Cook; and his sister: Helen.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at Van Gilder Funeral Home, Plymouth. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, with Pastor Justin Chambers officiating. Burial will be at New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.

Memorials may be given to The Plymouth Fire Department in honor of Richard.
