Five people were killed in a seven-vehicle crash near Lafayette just before midnight Thursday on Interstate 65. Indiana State Police say the crash happened in a construction zone when a semi rear-ended another vehicle.

The driver of the semi that caused the crash was killed, along with three people in a minivan and the driver of another vehicle. One other was injured. The highway was still closed in both directions early Friday morning as authorities cleared the scene. The crash is still under investigation.
