Snavely ConradConrad Snavely, 97, North Manchester, died at 11:35 a.m. Sunday, July 19, 2015, at Timbercrest Healthcare Center, North Manchester.

Conrad was born on May 19, 1918, in Seneca, Ohio, to Glenn and Lucile (Byerly) Snavely, both deceased. He was the pastor for the Church of the Brethren in Manassas, Va., for six years; Salamonie, for eight years; Hope, Mich., for six years; and a missionary to Nigeria from 1986 until 1973. He was director of Camp Brethren Heights, in Rodney, Mich., for six years where he also served the Rodney Church. He worked for the Manchester College Maintenance Dept. for seven years. He was a member of the Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester.

He married Irma Grace Fisher on June 6, 1943. She died on Sept. 18, 1998, and he married Bertha Custer on April 15, 2000. She died July 11, 2015..

He is survived by his sons: James Snavely, San Benito, Texas; and Brent Snavely, Royal Oaks, Mich.; brothers: Errol Snavely, Lewisville; and Welton Snavely, Nonigton, England; and sister: Frances Gilbert, Jeffersonville. He is preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Conrad was a member of the Manchester Church of the Brethren since 1979 where he served on the Board for six years, and chair of the Memorial Garden Committee for a number of years and sang in the choir for many years.  Served on Annual Conference Standing Committee for three years. Moderator of Michigan District, Wabash County Habitat Board for eight years. President of Wabash County Council on Aging Board for eight years.  A 1943 Graduate of Manchester College.  Licensed in the Christian Ministry in 1939 at Fostoria, Ohio Church of the Brethren. Bethany Biblical Seminary 1946 graduate.

Calling hours are from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25, at Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester. The funeral will be immediately after at 11 a.m, also at the funeral home, and will be officiated by Pastor Kurt Borgmann. Burial will be at the Memorial Garden at Manchester Church of the Brethren.

Memorials can be made to the Wabash County Habitat for Humanity, Wabash, or the Memorial Garden Fund at Manchester Church of the Brethren, North Manchester.
