At least two of three fires responded to by Milford Fire Department during the past week were caused by firecrackers, which are currently banned from being used under Kosciusko County’s burn ban.

The first call was at 4:27 p.m. Friday, at 202 Turkey Creek Drive, when neighbors heard the sound of firecrackers then spotted a fire in the yard owned by Joanna A. Stinehour. Firefighters were called to 948 Beer Road, at 12:05 p.m. Saturday, where firecrackers were said to have again started a
grass fire.

The fire department was called at 1:02 p.m. Tuesday to the area of CR 175E, south of CR 1300N when a fire was spotted along the roadside. It is believed that possibly a lit cigarette was tossed from a passing motorist that ignited that fire.
