Some lucky travelers had a chance to take a memorable trip aboard a piece of America’s history over the weekend when the Wabash Cannonball, or Steam Locomotive Number 765, once again journeyed from Fort Wayne to Lafayette and back.

The Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society sponsored the trips. Approximately 1,500 people were able to ride the train Saturday and Sunday, July 18 and 19. Some passengers paid as much as $400 for a seat in the train’s vintage cars.
