R. Clarence “Carey” Webster, 91, Plymouth, passed away at 4:05 p.m. Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Memorial Hospital, in South Bend.

Carey was born on April 27, 1924, in Marshall County, to John and Bessie (Dee) Webster. He was a graduate of Plymouth High School. Irene Overstreet and Carey were joined in marriage, on Jan. 11, 1946, in Plymouth.

Carey served his country, in the Navy during WWII, for six years. He and Irene owned the Ideal Laundrette, in Plymouth. He retired from McCord’s, and then worked at Napa Auto parts, in his retirement, as a parts driver. Carey was active in the Plymouth Kilwinning Lodge #l49, was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the American Legion Post #27, the V.F.W. Post #1162, the 40 and 8, and DESA Association (Destroyer Escort Sailor Association). He coached Little League, was a Boy Scout and Webelo’s leader, Rainbow Dad, and received the Grand Cross of Color.

Carey is survived by his children: Kathleen E. Bledsoe, Huntington, W.Va.; Richard C. Webster, Indianapolis; Frederick C. Webster, Plymouth; grandchildren: LTC (Ret)Elizabeth E. Bledsoe, Virginia, Wm.; Gregory Bledsoe; and Zakaria J. Webster, Plymouth; sister: Phyllis Cook, Goshen; sister-in-law: Lois Jean Webster, Plymouth; Dr. Theodore Decker, Plymouth; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife: Irene Webster, on Sept. 22, 1994; his sisters: Beulah Sherman; Mildred Decker; Evelyn Clayes; Mable Overmyer; Vera Hess; Daisy Crothers; Ollie Shearer; Louise Hibbits; and Mary Hawkins; and his brother: Robert Webster; James Webster; Francis Webster; David Webster; and Ernest Webster.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, at Van Gilder Funeral Home, Plymouth, with Masonic Rites at 7 p.m. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, at the funeral home, with Rev. Dr. Dennis Wenzel officiating. Burial will be at New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth, with military honors presented by the American Legion Post #17, The V.F.W. Post #1162, and the D.A.V. Chapter #42.

Memorials may be given to the Marshall County Historical Museum, Plymouth Public Library, or the Boy Scouts of America.
