Eugene Earl Teeter, of Gene’s Stump Grinding, Warsaw, passed away at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at his residence at the age of 79.
He enlisted in the Indiana Army National Guard on July 22, 1959, serving for three years until his honorable discharge on July 21, 1962. Gene worked various jobs throughout his life. He sold tires at the New Paris Speedway in New Paris; retired as the mechanic from Preston Trucking in South Bend; he plowed snow in Mishawaka and he was the owner of Gene’s Stump Grinding of Warsaw.
Gene was a member of Dutchtown Brethren Church in Warsaw, he loved hunting, fishing and working with trees. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Gene was born on June 1, 1936 in South Bend, Indiana to Harold Emmanuel Teeter and Myrtle Irene (Vardaman) Teeter. On July 24, 1965 he was married to Mary L. Bollart, who passed away on Dec. 19, 1984. He was re-married on Sept. 27, 2003 to Anna Lou Phillips Teeter, who survives in Warsaw.
He will be lovingly remembered by his three daughters: Tammy (Joe) Higginbotham, Buchanan, Mich.; Peggy (Mathew) Podemski, Warsaw; Tina (David) Sohlke, Mishawaka; son: Robert Teeter, South Bend; and three stepdaughters: Deborah (Mike) Hoover, Warsaw; Semone (Donald) Miller, Milford; Mary Kay McDonald, South Bend; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife: Mary L. Teeter, in 1984; two brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, July 17, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw. His funeral service will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at the funeral home, and will be officiated by Pastor Jack Worth. A graveside service will take place at 11:30 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 17, 2015 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.
