
At approximately 4:42 a.m. this morning, Warsaw Police attempted to stop a maroon 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix after an officer observed the vehicle southbound on South Buffalo Street speeding and driving left of center. Officers pursued the vehicle with lights and sirens activated but the driver showed no signs of slowing or stopping.
The pursuit did not exceed 40 miles per hour as the suspect vehicle continued down CR 200 South, Ferguson Road, and CR 250 South until the vehicle reached Hideaway Hills Mobile Home Park. The vehicle stopped in front of lot 20 and the driver exited the vehicle.
The driver, later identified as Gerardo Montes, 22, 2441 W. 250 S., Lot 20, Warsaw, failed to follow commands of the police officers. Montes was belligerent and appeared to be intoxicated. When officers attempted to take the driver into custody, he resisted and fought them. After being tased, Montes was taken into custody and transported to the Kosciusko County Jail where he was tested for intoxication, which resulted in 0.10 percent BAC.
Montes was booked into the jail on the charges of operating while intoxicated and felony fleeing law enforcement.
