Mary C. Hewitt, 89, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012 at her home.

She was born on Dec. 25, 1922, in Toledo, Ohio, to Nicholas and Kathryn (Smitzer) Isel.

She grew up in Toledo and graduated from high school there. On Nov. 10, 1943, she married David L. Hewitt who preceded her on Sept. 2, 1999. She lived in Farmington, Mich., for many years and Florida from 1984-2000 before moving to Syracuse. She was a homemaker and of the raised in the Catholic church.

She is survived by a daughter: Mary Ann Grainer, Royal Oak, Mich.; a son: David (Lori) Hewitt, Syracuse; and two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter: Patricia Trepler; two sisters: Sarah Davis and Lena Hawn, and two brothers: John and Ross Isel.

Private family services will be held at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, with Fr. Richard Hire of the St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church officiating. Burial will take place with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery near Washington, D.C.
