Jan Appenzeller, 71, Syracuse, passed away on July 4, 2015, at his home.
He was born on Sept. 14, 1943, in Fort Wayne, to Harry H. and Betty (Harkless) Appenzeller. On Aug. 18, 1985, he married Patricia Gawthrop who survives. Jan attended Purdue University and was a United States Air Force Veteran. He was co-owner of Appenzeller Brothers Auto Restoration. He had a passion for classic cars, wood boats, and was a main judge for the Auburn Cord Duesenberg show for several years.
He is survived by his wife: Patricia Appenzeller, Syracuse; two daughters: Sarah (Arnie Miller) Appenzeller-Lancaster, Leesburg; and Rebecca Fraisher, Ariz.; two sisters: Diane (Eduardo) Vivanco, Calif.; Margaret Appenzeller, Syracuse; two brothers: Patrick (Janis) Appenzeller, Goshen; Bill (Tammy) Appenzeller, Milford.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25, at the All Saints Episcopal Church in Syracuse with Father Larry Biller officiating. A gathering will immediately follow at the Appenzeller residence at 11739 N. S.R. 13 in Syracuse. Memorial contributions may be made to: Syracuse Fire Department or Kosciusko County Home Health Care and Hospice.
