Once a year, Turkey Creek/Syracuse firefighters get to start fires instead of dousing them at the annual Turkey Creek Firemen’s Barbecue at Station 1, 402 Huntington St., Syracuse.

This year, starting at 10 a.m., July 4, the grill masters will be serving up pork chops, $6; half a chicken, $6 and corn on the cob, $1 per ear.

Proceeds will go to buy new equipment and help area families in need.

There won’t be any advance ticket sales; However, drive-up and walk-in sales are available and encouraged due to limited seating in the station.

Fire Chief Mickey Scott asked that customers come in the Henry Street entrance on the east side of the station to avoid clogging up traffic on SR 13.
