Alex Carson Guyse, 18, of Lakeville, died Wednesday afternoon, June 24, 2015. He was born Sept. 3, 1996, in South Bend, to Stephen and Lisa (Huber) Guyse. Alex attended the LaVille school system, in Lakeville, where he was a recent graduate.
Alex was always smiling. His quick wit and contagious belly laugh could turn anybody’s day around. Helping and comforting others came naturally to him. Alex was the recent recipient of the Lion’s Club scholarship, based on his service within the community such as, mentoring an at-risk elementary student or bell ringing for the Salvation Army, during the holidays. He was also recently awarded a scholarship by the American Red Cross. Alex had become part of the High School leadership program by regularly donating blood, driving over to Goshen, to donate platelets, and recruiting others to generously give blood. Additionally, he was also named the Male Student Athlete of the Year by the LaVille Boosters.
When Alex first got his driver’s license, he insisted on becoming a full organ donor. His wish has been fulfilled, and even in death, Alex can now help upwards of 75 people with this choice.
Alex loved playing football. He was known as the “Hulk”. He sported bright green Hulk cleats every Friday night, proudly wearing his #77 jersey. He also played basebalI and participated in track and field. Outside of this, he enjoyed fishing with his big brother, Anthony, at Potato Creek State Park and with his, Uncle Ray, on Lake Shafer. And of course, he just liked hanging out with his best friend, Ray, and his girlfriend, Kayla!
Alex just enrolled, this past weekend, at Vincennes University, where he was going to begin his studies towards a Doctorate degree in Sports Medicine and Athletic Training. His goal was to work with the Chicago Bears.
Alex is survived by his parents: Steve and Lisa (Huber) Guyse, Lakeville; his brother: Anthony (Shelby Toth) Guyse, Lakeville; his maternal grandparents: Raymond L. and Jeanne (Rose) Huber, Monterey and Monticello; his uncle: Raymond W. Huber, Monterey; his aunts and uncles: Carrie (Huber) (Scott) Strycker, Independence, Ks.; Julie (Guyse) (Steve) Harness, Grovertown; Lori (Guyse) (Steve) Hollett, Plymouth; and uncle: John Guyse, Plymouth; and his niece: Peyton Guyse, Lakeville; and many cousins.
