Kentucky Fried Chicken ordered DNA testing on what a customer claimed to be a deep fried rat that had been served to him in a meal and found that it was not a rat, but in fact chicken.

Devorise Dixon ordered the food at a KFC in Wilmington, California. After opening his to-go box and spotting something he through looked like a tail on what was supposed to be a chicken breast, he took to social media and his post went viral.

KFC immediately sought to investigate the claim, and found no evidence to support it.

“Recently, a customer questioned the quality of a KFC product, and this received considerable publicity given the sensational nature of his claim,” said a KFC spokesperson in a statement. “The product has now been tested by a third-party independent lab, which confirmed it is definitely a piece of chicken, as we knew all along. The right thing for this customer to do is to apologize and cease making false claims about the KFC brand.”
