Rohrer Ends Prep Career With Impressive Effort
Anna Rohrer said so long to her high school running career in style.
Rohrer, a multiple Indiana state champion and recent Mishawaka High School graduate, won the Brooks PR Invitational two-mile run in Seattle over the weekend.
Rohrer won the nip-and-tuck race in a time of 9:59.96, becoming the first female from Indiana to ever break the 10-minute mark.
Rohrer’s winning time, which was just ahead of Destiny Collins of California (10:00.90), is the equivalent of running the 3,200 in 9:56.48. That time would be the 11th fastest 3,200 ever recorded by female runner.
Rohrer won state championships in both the 1,600 and 3,200 meter runs at the IHSAA State Finals held on June 6 in Bloomington. She set a new state record in winning the 3,200 in a time of 10:11.20. Rohrer also broke her own state finals record last fall in winning a cross country state title in a time of 17:08.8. That state championship was the second in cross country for Rohrer, who also won the event as a sophomore in 2012 before being sidelined her junior year due to a foot injury.
Rohrer will continue her running career at Notre Dame.
