It will be a lively time at the library next week when animal handler Mark Kohlhorst presents his Mark’s Ark Live Animal Show 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 1. Children and adults will experience a hands-on learning experience about animal heroes. Well supervised by Kohlhorst, his animal friends are gentle and people-friendly providing the opportunity for the audience to meet and pet them. All ages will enjoy this Summer Reading Program event that will be held in the North Webster Community Center Banquet Hall.
Youth in grades six through twelve are invited to fly into the library 4:30 p.m. Thursday, July 2, for a free movie complete with free popcorn. Showing is an American super hero film about a millionaire philanthropist who disguises himself to fight crime and keep his city safe, striking fear into the heart of villains. The movie is rated PG and runs 126 minutes.
Fight boredom and bring your little heroes to the library Friday, July 3, for Make It and Take It Craft Day. Kids can stop into the library anytime 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. to make super hero magnets and flip heroes. They can make their craft while at the library or take it home to complete.
The adults will enjoy their own Make and Take craft 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 2, when Jan Biehl teaches the popular Make & Take Card Class. For $7, participants learn how to make original greeting cards and take home what they make in class. The class fee includes all materials and supplies, plus lots of fun. Pre-registration is needed. The library will host a Coffee and Canvas 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 14. Folk artist Kayla Hayden, owner of The Happy Paint Brush, will show step-by-step how to paint a lovely lake scene while participants enjoy coffee and refreshments. The cost is $18 and includes 11 x 14 canvas and painting supplies. Pre-registration and payment is due by July 11. Class size is limited, so sign up early at the front desk. This is for adults only.
Tumble E-Books for children are now available on the home page of the library’s website at www.nweb.lib.in.us. Children can click on the TumbleBooks icon to listen and read along to a different story each day. No library card is needed to enjoy this free online reading experience. Other free online TumbleBooks are available on the Youth Resources page.
The library will be closed all day Saturday, July 4, for Independence Day.
