Marlene Ann Shell, 70, of Wabash, died at 1:40 p.m., Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. She was born March 23, 1945, in Martins Ferry, Ohio to Michael and Mary (Kuhar) Kompier.
Marlene graduated from St. Johns High School in Barton, Ohio in 1963. She retired from GenCorp in Marion, Indiana. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, in Wabash. Marlene enjoyed hanging out with her grandchildren, playing Facebook games, and mothering people.
She is survived by two children: John Shell, Marion; and Stacie (Chris) Reed, Wabash; six grandchildren: Doug Shell, Va.; Clayton Shell, Mich.; Teresa Denhoff; Andrew Adamson; Vali Reed; and Derek Reed, all of Wabash; brother: Michael “Mick” Kompier, Barton; and sister: Sylvia Kompier, North Royalton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her son: Doug Shell.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Wabash, with Father Sextus Don officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, June 22, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash. A rosary service will be 7 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Special Olympics of Wabash County or Wabash County Cancer Society.
