Claude Keith Tarr, 68, of Churubusco, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at VA Hospital in Marion.
Mr. Tarr was born on March 8, 1947, in Bluffton, a son of Claude C. and Florence (Maddux) Tarr. He spent his formative years in Jefferson Twp., Grant County, and graduated from Hartford City High School in 1967.
After high school he served his country in the Gulf #27 1st Marine Division in Vietnam, which he received a Purple Heart after being wounded.
On April 12, 2002 he was married to Mary Milner, and moved from Hartford City to Churubusco in 1973. He was employed at Uniroyal Goodrich, Woodburn, and retired after 23 years. Mr. Tarr was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America, Indianapolis Chaper 95, Disabled Veterans Post 1, Fort Wayne, Churubusco VFW Post 3846. Mr. Tarr had the opportunity to speak to Congress about the welfare of Veterans.
The surviving relatives include his wife: Mary Milner-Tarr, Churubusco; two sons: Jon (Taylor) Milner, Chicksha, Okla.; and Walker Milner-Tarr, Churubusco; a brother: Richard Tarr, Hartford City; two sister: Mary (Allen) Kesler, Hartford City; and Janet (John) Kidd, Chapmansboro, Tenn; several nephews and nieces, including Doug (Amy) Osborne.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Claude and Florence (Maddux) Tarr; two brothers: James and Harold Tarr; two sisters: Elizabeth Wesner; and Patricia Osborne.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 22, at Sheets and Childs Funeral Home, with Pastor Rick Van Horn, officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Sheets and Childs Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, June 22.
Burial with Military Rites will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Allen County.
