Golf Outing Raises Funds For Beaman Home
SYRACUSE – It was a beautiful day at South Shore Golf Course as team members from various local businesses took turns swinging clubs for a good cause at the 23rd Annual Beaman Home Golf Scramble on June 1.
This year’s event was held in memory of Mary Ann Cox, a “founding mother” and longtime supporter of the Beaman Home who passed away this past year. The event was honored to have one of Mary Ann’s sons and a granddaughter participate in the day.
Overall, the event netted over $9,200 to support the Beaman Home’s continued goal to provide essential services to domestic violence victims and their children. With 23 teams participating, the day was full of fun and friendly competition.
K21 Health Foundation’s team took home first place in the scramble with a score of 55. Team members Rich Haddad, Kevin Roberts, Joe Hawn, and David Haines each received a prize package including 18 holes of golf at Stonehenge Golf Club and a $50 gift card to Cerulean Restaurant.
Bartel Printing Company was the runner-up, with team members Murray Bartel, Mike LaLonde, Todd Anglemeyer, and Nick Anglemeyer taking home second place with a score of 56. Each team member won a $25 gift card to One Ten Craft Meatery and a golf umbrella from Key Bank.
All teams had options to pay for mulligans and a creative way to further the advancement of their ball on a day full of crazy antics. Bowen Center sponsored a hole where golfers were challenged to manipulate a remote-control car to improve their tee-off position. At the end of the day, Bowen Center employees presented Beaman Home with $240 raised by their RC challenge.
Other contests the players participated in were the longest drive, longest putt, and closest to the pin. The longest drives were won by Andy Hartley and Karen Cripe. The longest putt winner was Bob Krevinghaus and Mike LaLonde won the closest to the pin. All players were also given a chance to win a 2015 Chevrolet from Lakeside Chevrolet for a hole in one.
The Beaman Home is extremely thankful for the generous contributions from local businesses and donors for this event. Greens sponsors for this year’s event were Lake City Bank and Paragon Medical.
