Thelma MoogThelma C. Moog, 86, of Columbia City, died Thursday morning, June 4, 2015, at her home.

She was born May 20, 1929, in Peru, a daughter of Albert B. and Mary F. (Moore) Wolf. She graduated from Peru High School in Dec. 1946 and married John R. Hartleroad.

On May 18, 1973, she married John M. Moog. They lived at Shriner Lake for nearly 30 years and were frequent winter residents of Destin, Fla. Mr. Moog died April 8, 1993.

She retired from Weatherhead, was active in the Emmaus community and volunteered at the Bowen Center.

She was a member and volunteer of St. Matthews United Methodist Church until 2006 when she moved to Ill.

Surviving relatives include three children: Rev. John Richard (Judy) Hartleroad Jr.; Brentwood, Tenn.; Patsy Ann (William) Batovsky, Glen Burnie, Md.; and Steven Alan (Denise) Hartleroad, Columbia City; three stepchildren: Donna (Harry) Dagwell, Crestview, Fla.; Carlyle (Ada) Moog, Columbia City; and Robert Moog, Fort Wayne; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; 11 step grandchildren; many step great-grandchildren and step great-great-grandchildren; and a brother: James Richard Wolf, Lafayette.

Two sisters: Vivian Teegardin; and Maryette Davenport; and a brother: Charles E. Wolf; preceded her in death.

There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday June 7, at St. Matthew United Methodist Church, Columbia City.

Preferred memorials are to American Cancer Society of St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church.

Arrangements are being completed by Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
