Charles F. Rollins, 81, of Churubusco, passed away at 6:46 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2015, at Parkview Hospital Randallia in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Rollins was born on Feb. 5, 1934, in Churubusco, a son of Marvin and Florence (Deck) Rollins. On June 29, 1984 he was married in Allen County to Betty (Heffelfinger) Geiger.
Following high school Mr. Rollins served his country in the United States Navy. He was employed at Dana Weatherhead Division in Columbia City, and retired in 1996 after 28 and a half years Mr. Rollins was a lifetime member of both the Gilbert Davis American Legion Post 157 and the Churubusco Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Turtle Post 3846.
His spouse preceded him in death on May 3, 2008.
The surviving relatives include a daughter: Debra L. Geiger, Churubusco; a son: Richard (Wilda) Geiger, Fort Wayne; two brothers: Clyde Rollins, Churubusco; and Eddie Rollins, Ligonier; a sister: Patricia Perkins, Ligonier; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Marvin and Florence (Deck) Rollins; four brothers: Ross E.; Clayton; Alfred; and Robert Rollins; and three sisters: Elizabeth Carolyn Shelmadine; Phyllis Born; and Letha Born.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 5, at Sheets and Childs Funeral Home, with Pastor Tim Grable, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Sheets and Childs Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 4, or one hour prior to the service. Burial with military graveside rites will be in the Eel River Cemetery, Allen County.
