Phillip J. RentschlerPhillip J. Rentschler, 77, Macy, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at his residence.

He was born on June 13, 1937, in Fulton County, the son of Mervine C. and Elgy V. (Hubert) Rentschler. On December 23, 1956 he married Margaret Ann Albner. She preceded him in death on June 30, 1994. On Feb. 14, 1997, at Fletcher’s Lake United Methodist Church, he married Marilyn Joyce (Fry) Giesler and she survives.

Phillip was a 1955 graduate of Fulton High School and a member of the Fulton Masonic Lodge. He worked as a farmer and loved woodworking full-time. He enjoyed visiting with anyone who stopped by his wood shop, and always treasured the time spent with his family.

Survivors include his wife: Joyce; daughters: Cynthia (Greg) Pownell, Logansport; Karen (Barry) Capper, Plymouth; stepchildren: Michael (Cindy) Helvie, Marion; Marilyn (Howard) Shepard, Ohio; grandchildren: Cameron (fiancée Kayla) Capper, Ann Arbor, Mich.; Blake Pownell, Logansport; Bailey Capper, Cincinnati, Ohio; step grandchildren: Jonathan; Debra; and Zachary Shepard, Ohio; Eric (Megan) Helvie, N.Y.; Melody (Jared) Rensberger, Pasadena, Calif.; brothers: Jim (Doneta) Rentschler, Lucerne; Ned (Juanita) Rentschler, Rochester; Dave (Nancy) Rentschler, Paris, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at Zimmerman Brothers Funeral Home, Fulton, and one hour prior to the funeral service. A masonic service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at the funeral home. Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 31, at the funeral home, with Rev. Dave Summers officiating. Burial will be at Fulton Cemetery.
