
DUNLAP – It was another solid day for the Warsaw girls tennis team at the Northern Lakes Conference Girls Tennis Championships on Thursday night at Concord.
The Lady Tigers advanced two players into Friday’s championships while a doubles team will be playing for third place.

Colette Smith and Ella Knight, both freshmen, knocked off the top seeds in their respective brackets to advance.
Smith won 6-2, 6-4 over No. 1 seed Alana Brubaker (Concord) at two singles to set up a title tilt with Taylor Freedline of Elkhart Memorial. Knight upset the three singles top seed, Plymouth’s Jess Stillson, 6-2, 6-4. Knight will play Northridge’s Chase Kieper in Friday’s title.
Warsaw’s No. 2 doubles team of Athena Schlitt and Sydney Hartman will contend for third place in their bracket tomorrow after falling 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) to Shannon Purcell and Alexa Klopfenstein of Concord.
At No.1 singles Liza Lewis will contend for 5th place against Kathleen Morrical of Goshen. No. 1 doubles players Camile Kerlin and Hannah Rice also won to advance to the 5th place match.
Wawasee had another rough day on the courts as all five court lost. Chelsea Carolus had a tough fight with Goshen’s Gabby Ferra before ultimately falling 5-7, 7-5, 6-3. No. 2 doubles players Kabrea Rostochak and Jazlyn Gehlhausen continued to show improvement but were defeated 6-4, 6-3 by Vanessa Raber and Kenzie Kauffman of Northridge.
The finals on Friday will be played at Plymouth High School.
