Marlene Andrews, 79, of Syracuse passed away on May 11, 2015, at the Lakeland Rehabilitation Center in Milford.
She was born on June 30, 1935 in Goshen, to Jacob and Cleo (Moist) Blackport.
She grew up in Goshen and graduated in 1953 from Goshen High School. She went on to finish her college education in 1991 and graduated from Indiana University with her teaching degree. Marlene taught school at the Rocky Ridge Boarding school on the Navajo reservation in Kykotsmoui, Ariz., until 1995.
She is survived by her two daughters: LeeAnn Andrews, Syracuse; and Kathleen Andrews, Milford; one son: Daniel (Kay) Andrews, Milford; two grandsons: Bradley (Lisa) Andrews, Almot, Mich.; Eric (Amber Achilles) Andrews, West Palm Beach, Fla.; one great-grandson: A.J. Andrews; one stepdaughter: Vickie (Gary) McMaster, Goshen; one stepgrandson; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Frank Andrews.
There will be a memorial service at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 17, at the Clearview United Brethren Church, Benton. Memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Pet Rescue or Clearview United Brethren Church.
