North Webster Community Public Library
It’s big. It’s humongous. It’s a mega book sale. The friends of the North Webster Community Public Library will hold it’s biannual book sale Thursday, May 21, through Saturday, May 23, in the North Webster Community Center banquet hall.
Thousands of gently used books, movies, CDs, games, and puzzles for adults and children will be for sale at low bargain prices. There will be a huge selection of genres and subjects for all ages to choose from. It’s an economical way to stock up on reading material for the summer, plus all proceeds go to help support the work of the library.
Sale hours are 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday. There will not be another book sale until October, so don’t miss this opportunity to save big on books, movies, and more for the whole family.
The kids won’t want to miss out on the library’s Summer Reading Program that starts Monday, June 1 and runs through Saturday, July 25. This year’s theme is “Every Hero Has a Story.” Youth, ages infant through high school, will be inspired to become super readers, earning prizes for every five hours of reading they complete; plus they will get extra reading credit for attending the many special events and activities that will take place each week. The kids will have fun learning and being entertained at music, storytelling, and magic shows; Friday family food and fun days; super hero bingo; make and take craft days; and reading to an animal friend at paws-to-read.
Sign up for the Summer Reading Program starts Monday, June 1 in the Youth Services Department where details and a schedule of summer events are available.
If you’re a returning snow bird or summer resident, the library has lots of programs and activities for you as well. Book and writing clubs, card making classes, food sampling and recipe exchange, a genealogy group, weight loss support program, hiking club, and a variety of special events each month will enrich your summer stay. You don’t even need a library card to participate in our programs and events, although one is needed to check out materials. Many of our summer residents qualify for a free North Webster Library card, or if they hold an Evergreen card from their home library, that card can be used here, too.
Stop in the library for information on upcoming events or visit our website at www.nweb.lib.in.us or Facebook page.
