Warsaw Track Team Completes Unbeaten NLC Run
NAPPANEE – The Warsaw boys track team completed its perfect run once again Wednesday night through the Northern Lakes Conference.
The Tigers, who have not lost a league dual meet since the 2011 season, beat host NorthWood and Plymouth in the regular-season NLC finale at NorthWood.
Warsaw won nine events in topping the Panthers 81-51 and besting Plymouth 102-30 in the NLC triangular.
Coach Matt Thacker’s team improves to 8-0 overall and finishes 7-0 in NLC action. The Tigers have now won 34 straight NLC meets.
Warsaw won five events on the track and four field events in the two victories.
Daniel Messenger was first in the 800 with a top time of 2:01.23. Owen Glogovsky took first in the 3,200 in 10:28.93. Ross Armey claimed first in the 300 hurdles in a time of 41.20.
Warsaw also won two of the three relay events contested on the evening. The 4 X 100 relay team of Rane Kilburn, Brock Riley, Will McGarvey and Brandon Reinholt won in a time of 43.86. The foursome of Trent Thompson, Nick Adams, Jon Beres and TJ Day won the 4 X 800 in a time of 8:55.30.
The Tigers got wins in field events from Rashaan Jackson in the long jump (20-3), along with Luke Wilson in the high jump (6-2), Dylan Childers in the shot put (46-11) and Andrew Scheidt in the discus (137-8).
Placing second for Warsaw were Jaceb Burrish (discus), Ben Plummer (shot put), Riley (high jump), Caleb Klusman (110 hurdles), Landan Perry (400) and Kilburn (100).
The Tigers got third-place finishes from McGarvey (200), Glogovsky (1,600), Joseph Harness (high jump), Lucas Cone (pole vault), Tommy Hickerson (long jump) and Childers (discus).
Warsaw returns to action next Tuesday night as they host the NLC Meet at 5 p.m.
