A box truck owned by J.G. Cabinet and Counter Inc., Larwill, was damaged after the driver forgot about the height requirements on Hand Avenue, Warsaw, for the railroad viaduct.
The box portion of the truck became stuck while going underneath the railroad structure.
Todd E. Grube, 35, East Beech Ave., Columbia City, told police he was southbound on Hand Avenue, approaching the railroad viaduct. He stated he has driven under the structure before in another work van, so was not thinking about the height requirement while in the 1997 Ford box truck.
While there was extensive damage to the truck, police report the viaduct had scratches to the iron work, but did not appear to be damaged. Officials contacted RailAmerica, Jacksonville, Fla., about the accident.
Damage was estimated up to $10,000. Grube told police he was all right and declined any medical treatment.
