WATERFORD MILLS – Milford native Eric Gingerich has been named varsity boys basketball coach at Bethany Christian High School. He replaces Bethany’s athletic director Gary Chupp, who served as interim coach this past year following longtime coach Jim Buller’s resignation to serve as Bethany’s interim head of school.
Chupp says, “I am very pleased to announce Eric Gingerich as our new boys basketball coach. The experience he has gained working with some of the best women’s college basketball programs in the country, and the passion and vision he displayed throughout the interview process makes this an ideal hire for Bethany.”
Gingerich comes to Bethany from John Brown University (Siloam Springs, AR), where he served as an assistant women’s basketball coach. He is a graduate of Wawasee High School and Indiana Wesleyan University, where he assisted with the Indiana Wesleyan women’s basketball team that went 38-0 and won the NAAI DII national championship in 2007.
He earned a master’s in higher education and student development from Taylor University in 2010 with a focus on the relationship between athletics and religion.
Gingerich says, “I’m extremely excited for the opportunity to coach at Bethany and am looking forward to moving back to an area with a deep tradition of quality high school basketball. I have a deep passion to develop men of character and integrity and want to see my men learn to be leaders and servants on and off the court. Bethany will be a fantastic incubator to facilitate such growth.”
