Crimson Chargers Clip Tigers
WARSAW – The Warsaw girls tennis team dropped a 3-2 final to Elkhart Memorial Tuesday night.
The Crimson Chargers won two of the three singles matches over the host Tigers to claim the Northern Lakes Conference match.
Warsaw got wins at No. 3 singles and at No. 2 doubles in the league tussle.
Freshman Liza Lewis defeated Layla Jojo 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles for the Tigers.
The duo of Sydney Hartman and Athena Schlitt beat Mady Robinson and Hannan Hakim 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles for Warsaw.
Krystal Grubb of Memorial topped Ella Knight 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Corinn Whittaker of the Chargers best Colette Smith 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.
The Chargers, who advanced to the State Finals a year ago, won at No. 1 doubles as the team of Taelor Grose and Taylor Freedline beat Chelsey Farling and Rosie Fleming 6-0, 6-0.
Warsaw won the junior varsity action 6-4. Winning for the JV Tigers were the doubles teams of Shelby Roberts and Jenn Katris, Greer Smith and Sophia Parke, Bonnie Wong and Courtney Thompson, Corinna Good and Brooklyn Rummer, Cheyenne Wenger and Taylor Biberstine and Alexis Ray and Alyce Allen.
Warsaw is now 1-6 overall and 1-2 in the NLC.
The Tigers play at NLC foe Wawasee on Thursday.
