Manchester University bands embrace “The National Pastime” in a baseball-themed concert on Wednesday, May 6.
The University Bands Concert is at 7:30 p.m. in Cordier Auditorium on the North Manchester campus. It is free and open to the public.
It will premiere Casey at the Bat – originally a work for flute, piano and a narrator by northeast Indiana composer Diane Whitacre, it has been transcribed for concert band. The debut performance will be performed by the Manchester University Symphonic Band, conducted by Scott Humphries.
The concert also showcases:
- Jazz Ensemble conducted by Tim Reed and featuring alto saxophonist Ed Renz.
- Percussion Ensemble conducted by David Robbins.
