Whitko Sports Wrap – April 27
The Whitko girls tennis team lost a 4-1 final at Columbia City Monday.
Delaney Keirn collected the lone win for the Wildcats with a 7-5, 7-5 win in singles action.
The duo of Morgan Keirn and Aurelia Slusher each lost in straight sets in singles play for Whitko.
The doubles teams of Mikaela Finley and Jackie Werstler and Natalie Iholtz and Blair Creamer also lost in straight sets for the Wildcats.
Whitko will host Fort Wyane Northrop Tuesday.
Softball Team Rallies For Win
Haley Yohe was the hero for the Whitko softball team Monday.
Yohe smacked a two-run double in the final inning to lift the host Wildcats to a 4-3 win over Oak Hill.
Oak Hill had scored two runs in their final at-bat in the top of the seventh inning to take a 3-2 lead. Yohe then drove home Maddie Gawthrop and Kennedy Krull to give the Wildcats the win.
Hanna Yohe was the winning pitcher for the hosts.
Whitko plays at Manchester on Wednesday evening.
JV Baseball Team Victorious
The Whitko junior varsity baseball team post a 7-2 win Monday at Columbia City.
Winning pitcher Riley Anderson had 13 strikeouts for the Wildcats. Anderson also went 2-4 at the plate with three RBI. River West was 2-2 with two RBI for the winners.
