Warsaw SportsThe Warsaw girls tennis team gave No. 12 Carroll all it could handle Monday evening.

The Chargers used a pair of three-set wins to earn a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the host Tigers in non-conference play.

Liza Lewis notched a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles for Warsaw.

The Tigers also got a win at No. 2 doubles as the team of Sydney Hartman and Athena Schlitt won 7-5, 7-6 (8-6).

Sydney Jackson of Carroll topped Ella Knight 6-0, 6-0 at No,. 1 singles.

The Chargers won at No. 2 singles as Jenna Jackson topped Colette Smith 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. Carroll took the No. 1 doubles match as Taylor Stanchin and Clare Lopez stopped Camille Kerlin and Rosie Fleming 1-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-4.

The junior varsity match ended in a 4-4 tie. Winning for Warsaw in JV play were Grace Miller, Libby Jenkins and Julie Frazetta in singles play and the doubles team of Shelby Roberts and Chelsea Farling.

Warsaw will host Northern Lakes Conference foe Elkhart Memorial Tuesday.

Panthers Blank Tigers

The Warsaw baseball team came out on the short end of a 2-0 final at NorthWood in Northern Lakes Conference play.

Marselo Rodriguez led the offense for the Tigers with a triple. Ethan Bradley, Sterling Hay, Ryan Marshall, Tyler LaFollette and Brad Christenberry each had one hit.

Isaac Lenon took the pitching loss in a complete game for Warsaw.

Chad Sellers fired a complete game six-hitter for NorthWood. Vincent Miranda and Brock Boehler each had two hits for the Panthers.

Warsaw, now 3-5 overall and 2-2 in the NLC, plays at league foe Northridge on Wednesday.

Warsaw won the junior varsity game over NorthWood 8-1. Winning pitcher Luke Baker had a double. Darren Knisely had two hits and Brady Yates a double for the Tigers, who are now 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the NLC.

Softball Team Falls To Panthers

The Warsaw softball team took an 18-2 home loss to NorthWood in a Northern Lakes Conference contest.

Taylor Troxel pitched a three-hitter and also had three hits for the Panthers.

Claire McGuire had a home run and a triple and Summer Stilton four RBI for NorthWood in the six-inning win.

NorthWood improves to 6-4 overall and 4-1 in the NLC. Warsaw is now 2-7 overall and 2-2 in the NLC.

Warsaw hosts Northridge and NorthWood hosts Elkhart Memorial in NLC games on Wednesday.
