Triton Netters Sixth At Plymouth Tourney
PLYMOUTH – Kaelyn Mason led the way for the Triton girls tennis team in the Plymouth Invitational Saturday.
Mason went 2-1 to earn a third-place finish at No. 1 singles for the Trojans. Mason’s loss was to champion Emily Mast of Fairfield, a two-time All-State player.
Fairfield, with champions at all three singles positions, scored 33 points to take the team championship. Host Plymouth was second with 32 points, followed by Mishawaka Marian (18), Michigan City (17), Centerville (14), Triton (11), Peru (11) and Columbia City (9).
Sheryl May placed fourth at No. 2 singles with a 1-2 mark for Triton.
Kylie Mason and Kolbie Mason were sixth at No. 1 doubles and Quinn Downing and Emma Ross sixth at No. 2 doubles for the Trojans. Both teams were 1-2. Hannah Wanemacher placed eighth at No. 3 singles with an 0-3 mark.
Emily Mast won the No. 1 singles title for Fairfield. Younger sister Morgan Mast was first at No. 2 singles and Lauren Streit topped the field at No. 3 singles for the champion Falcons.
Triton travels to Rochester on Monday.
