Robert “Bob” Roman Laux, 71, of Roanoke, died April 17, 2015, after a farming accident involving a tractor off of Keiser Road in Whitley County.
Born Sept. 4, 1943, in Huntington, he was the son of Robert A. and Pauline (Schuman) Laux.
Bob graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the class of 1961. One June 6, 1964, he married Laura Lee Brown. He worked 31 years for BF Goodrich, retiring in 1993 and then worked 15 years for the State Highway Department. Throughout his life though, Bob was a dedicated farmer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years: Laura Laux; their five children: Robert (Rhonda) Laux, Columbia City; Randall (Debra) Laux, Columbia City; Rita (Dan) Dailey, Columbia City; Kenneth (Diana) Laux, Columbia City; Joseph (Jessica) Laux, South Whitley; his four siblings: Charlie (Sherri) Laux, Ashley; Susie (Robert) Hudson, Fort Wayne; John (Joanne) Laux, Brookfield, Wis.; Judy (Rod) Powell, Fort Wayne; 15 grandchildren: Brad, Rachel, Brittney, Derek Hauck, Jenna Shenefield, Dezer-Ray, Sam, Rebecca, Kyle, Brooke, JoLyn, Kaleb, Brianna, Kameron and Jackson; and three great-grandchildren: Kiera and Kallie; and a great-grandson on the way.
Bob was preceded in death by both of his parents; infant daughter: Deborah Jean Laux; and infant grandson: Matthew James Dailey.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, at DeMoney-Grimes, a life story funeral home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 23.
Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association.
