Larry Schlotterback, 74, of Syracuse, passed away at 5:20 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015, at Golden Living Center in Elkhart.

He was born on Oct. 14, 1940, to Leo and Orvaleen (Heffner) Schlotterback in Kendallville. He served his country honorably in the United States Marines stationed in Guam. Larry was a private pilot and built his own Ultra Lite, and later owned a Piper Cub. He worked for Zollinger Piston and retired after over 30 years of service. Larry enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his children: Dan Schlotterback, Fort Wayne; Terry Schlotterback, Roanoke; Melissa Carlson, Columbia City; one uncle: Ron Heffner, Kendallville.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter: Sherry.

A memorial service will be held in hi honor at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, at Yeager Funeral Home with celebrant Larry Baker officiating. A private cremation committal will take place at Legacy Cremation and Remembrance Center. There will be a time of visitation from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, prior to the service at the funeral home.
