Ronald E. AukermanRonald Eugene Aukerman, 75, of Bremen, passed away at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, 2015, peacefully in his home surrounded by family.

Ron was born on Aug. 25, 1939, the son of the late Max and Lydia (Wegner) Aukerman. On July 20, 1968, he married Penny Blank. She passed away on Jan. 28, 2012.

He is also preceded in death siblings: Pauline Fulmer, Carolyn Kile, Don Aukerman, Bob Aukerman and Richard “Dick” Aukerman.

He is survived by three children: Danny Aukerman, Camie (Dwight “Bub”) Vandiver, Jr., and Billy Aukerman, all of Bremen; and nine grandchildren: Kaylee Aukerman, Mackenzie Aukerman, Aydan Aukerman, Tyra Mills, Tiarra Mills, Taryn Vandiver, Zackery Shumaker, Victoria Aukerman and Skyler Aukerman; siblings: Betty Briggs, Doris Jones, Lois (Dean) Farrer, Jean Stillson, John Aukerman and Dale (Lucinda) Aukerman; and his best friend: Tator.

Ron proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1961. He worked for Franklin Coach for over 30 years before his retirement in 2000. Ron was a longtime member of the LaPaz American Legion before recently transferring to the Bremen American Legion. Ron will be remembered as a huge Chicago Cubs fan and a loving father and grandfather.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, April 20, in Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 SR 331, Bremen. Memorial contributions in memory of Ronald may be made to the Center for Hospice or American Cancer Society.
