The 48th annual Tri Kappa Honor Reception and awards ceremony was held at WCHS in the PAC. The annual reception recognizes the Outstanding Scholastic Achievement by the graduating seniors in the class of 2012. Approximately 300 students and parents enjoyed a special message by Pastor Erik Ohman of Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church who spoke about Dreams and Fears.

Tri Kappa is a philanthropic sorority dedicated to promoting charity, culture, and education in the state of Indiana. The Alpha Lambda local chapter supports the community through its fundraisers-pumpkins, Trunk Show, and Longaberger Bingo. Riley Children’s Hospital, the elementary art show, Red Cross, and the Beamon Home are just a few of the many organizations it supports. In 2011, Tri Kappa awarded approximately $13,000 in local scholarships to graduating seniors and nontraditional students returning to school.

The students were recognized with honor chords which recognized their academic standing-cum laude, magna cum laude, and summa cum laude. Tri Kappa President Vicky Decker presented certificates, and WCHS also named the Tri Alpha’s which recognizes the top 5%-which is the highest academic award given at WCHS. Following the awards ceremony, a dessert reception was served by the FCCLA (family and consumer science) students who prepared and served the food.
