Fred ShivelyFrederick W. Shively, 74, of Etna Green, passed away at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015, in the care of his family.

He was born August 6, 1940, in Nappanee, the son of Wayne and Arlene (Wysong) Shively. Fred was a 1958 graduate of Bourbon High School. He was a lifetime area resident.

Fred married the love of his life, Wanda Hall on July 30, 1958 and she survives. Fred was a truck driver for Petrolane Incorporated for many years and then worked at Newmar Corporation as a receiving clerk where he retired in 2009.

Fred was known by many particularly in the horse circuit. He was a member of the Frances Slocum Trail Riding Club of Peru, Indiana, past member of the Silver Dollar Saddle Club of Bourbon, Camp-We-Can of Rochester, (riding club for the handicap). Fred was always a huge help during the Marshall County 4-H Fair with the Horse and Pony. Whether it was his own grandchildren or someone else’s child Fred would always be of help. During his daily routine he always found time to solve all the issues at the coffee shop with his friends. He will be greatly missed by all his friends and family.

In addition to his wife, Wanda, he is survived by three children: Doug Shively, Bourbon; Darla (Mrs. Philip) Kiefer, Bremen; Dawn (Mr. Ernest) Raber, Etna Green; nine grandchildren: Travis M. (Amanda) Shively, Trenton F. (Nicole) Shively, Melissa (Mrs. Kevin) Faulstich, Darin Kiefer, Jessica (Mrs. Nathan) Dahl, Kelsey Kiefer, Tyler Raber, Taylor Shively and Drew Kiefer; and 10 great-grandchildren: Olivia and Ethan Shively; Dawson Kiefer; Brayden Kiefer; Brooklyn Shively; Payton Faulstich; Liam Long; Parker Faulstich; Bentley Shively and Chloe Long; his brother: Steve and Pat Shively, Etna Green.

He was preceded in death by his father: Wayne, Feb. 6, 1983; and his mother: Arlene, Sept. 25, 2012.

You are invited from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, April 10, to celebrate Fred’s life with family and friends in Camp Creek Church of the Brethren, 7486 N. SR 19, Etna Green. Funeral services will follow on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the church with Pastor Mark Riege officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon. Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
