Ogden H. Alger, 89, rural North Manchester, died at 12 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

He was born May 6, 1925, in Wabash County to Hugh and Lela (Ogden) Alger.

Ogden was a 1943 graduate of Laketon High School. From January 1944 to November 1945, during WWII, Ogden was a staff sergeant in the 15th Air Force stationed in Italy. He flew 25 missions as a B-24 turret gunner. He married Dorothy LaVerne Gearhart in Huntington on June 12, 1947.

He was a retired farmer and also worked 37 years at General Tire in Wabash, retiring in 1987. He was a life long member of the Ijamesville United Methodist Church and a member the Laketon American Legion. Ogden enjoyed gardening.

He is survived by his wife: Dorothy LaVerne Alger, North Manchester, two children: Brad (Angela) Alger, Leo, Ind., and Beth (Jeff) Pyle, North Manchester; sister: Gladys Dilling, North Manchester; four grandchildren: Celesta Brown, Wabash, Nina Brown, North Manchester, Krysta Alger, Leo, and Brandon Alger, a pitcher with the San Diego Padres minor league team.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother: Leo Alger.

Graveside services and burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday April 6, 2015, at Laketon Cemetery, with Pastor Kent Harting officiating. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main Street, North Manchester.

Preferred memorial is Ijamesville United Methodist Church.
