Have you ever felt like you have run out of options for your life, career, or business? Every day is literally filled with options. Most options appear to be an either/or choice. We have all heard things like, ‘You can either have money or happiness. You can either make money or do work you love.’ Are there really only two options? No.

There is always a third option, the and option. I read a recent question on a friend’s Facebook post. He asked the question, “Would you either like to earn $1,000 more per month, or learn how to save $1,000 per month. All but one person chose one of the two options presented. One person answered it right. They wanted to earn and save more money per month.

I believe we have become conditioned by the world around us and can struggle to think past the either/or options presented. People present us options all the time and without thinking, we usually choose only from the options they give. I want to focus for a moment on an all too common either/or option many face when it comes to work.

We are told you can either be happy doing work you love or you can make money. It has to be one or the other, but it certainly can’t be both, right? Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Who said you can’t love what you do and make money? And when I say make money, I mean more than just paying the bills and getting by.

In order to see and fully experience our best life, we need to be open to change. Uh oh. I said a bad word. Change. We have to change how we see and think about our options. The fear of change can blind us to the and options available.

The thought of changing the work you do to pursue something you love can bring fear and stop you from thinking about the and option. In order to live out your best life you may have to move, get more education, or change the company you work for and so on. This is where fear comes in and shuts down your mind from thinking past the either/or option.

You may feel like you are running out of options. It may seem like you are facing an either/or option in your personal or professional life right now. If none of the options before you are what you want and need, find or create your and option.
